government sector banking institutions. The wait for these aspirants is
over as IBPS has announced to probable time when the second CWE for the
clerical jobs in government owned banks would be held this year. It was
previously anticipated that there would certainly be some kind of
changes that would be done to the rules and regulations of the exam
conducted by the IBPS. This anticipation has turned out to be true due
to the fact that IBPS has made some significant changes pertaining to
the overall procedure of the candidates getting selected for the various
vacancies in the nationalized banking institutions in the country.
These changes are thought to be brought into effect from 2012 CWE.
The aspirants, who wish to get employed
at Clerical Cadre level in most of the nationalized banks in the
country, have to appear for the IBPS CWE compulsorily if they are
looking forward to a Clerk job in nationalized banks. Online

Previously, there were 19 nationalized
banks which used to accept the recruitment platform provided by the IBPS
through the Common Written Test. From this time onwards, there is a new
entrant in this number which has increased the total number of
nationalized banks following IBPS platform up to 20. This new

Important points to remember
Online test-
It is important to note that unlike last year, this year, IBPS Clerk
Exam will be an online test. Thus, you won’t be getting OMR sheets to
mark your answers. Instead, you will have to click the answers online.
Change in eligibility criteria-
Till last year, even candidates without a graduation degree could
appear for the exam. However, that criteria has been changed this time.
You need to hold a valid degree from a recognized university. Simply
passing class XII exams does not make you eligible for IBPS Clerk Exam

Compulsory computer education-
This is another vital change that has been made in this edition of IBPS
Clerk Exam. Computer education is compulsory for all the candidates

studied computers in college or high school, or you must hold a valid
computer course certificate from a recognized institute.
Can’t appear if you have backlogs-
You cannot appear for the exam if you have to clear backlogs in your
college education. You must hold a valid degree as on 1st October, 2012.
Common interviews-
Another change that has happened this year is the bringing in of common
interviews. Till last year, banks used to shortlist the candidates
based on their score in the common written exam. They then called the
shortlisted candidates for a personal interview. However, this year, the
interviews would be conducted by IBPS. Your score in the common written
exam and the interview would be combined to give you the final score.
Based on the final score, you will get a job offer from any one of the
participating banks.
You can apply for only one state/union territory-
You can apply for banks in only one state or UT in this edition of IBPS
Clerk Exam. Also, you must know the local language of that particular
state or UT in order to be eligible for application.

IBPS for IBPS Clerk Exam 2012, the score that you get in your common
